Noodle & Doodle…and Frashbrowns

As of today, we have new nicknames for you and Brady, courtesy of….you!  For some reason you decided to start calling Brady Doodle.  Once that started to take with all of us you then decided you wanted to be Noodle.  So, in addition to Monkey and Hailey Bear, you will also be known as Doodle.  And in addition to Bubby, Brady will now be known as Doodle!  We love it!

You finished up your 10 days of swim lessons and did GREAT!  Many nights you were hesitant to even get in the water, but once you overcame that initial fear and made it into the water, you would do awesome….and even had fun!  We went to IHOP for dinner a couple of nights before swim lessons and your favorite food was frashbrowns…aka, hashbrowns!  HA!

We celebrated Lauren’s 3rd birthday at her swim party today.  We all had a fantastic time and it was obvious you were much more comfortable in the water than you were before your swim lessons…you even jumped off the diving board unprompted!

Swim Lessons

We made the decision to put you into a swim camp; every day, Monday – Friday, for 2 weeks.  The first day was pretty brutal….you had a hard time adjusting to being in the water without mommy or daddy.  Even though there were only 3 other kids in your class, you were still feeling pretty unsure about the entire situation and expressed your concern with MANY tears.  To top it all off, as this is an indoor venue we promised you there would be no butterflies (you know, those terrifying little flying creatures).  Little did we know that in the midst of your panic and crying a lone butterfly would make it’s way to your end of the pool!  What were the chances!?

You survived day one and recovered rather nicely after the lessons were over, even agreeing to return the next day!  Well, we are 5 days into your lessons and we have yet to make it through a lesson without crying – though the amount of tears is diminishing each day.  And you always agree to return the next day so you can’t be too traumatized, right?

We decided to have daddy spend some time with you in the pool this weekend, in an effort to better prepare you for your 2nd week of lessons.  You are now jumping in the pool off the ledge and going all the way under!  You even seem to be enjoying it!  Hopefully that comfort level will carry over into the indoor lessons pool?!

We’ll see how week 2 goes….
