You know our names!
Posted onYou know how to say Kristine & Brad — and you know that is me and daddy!
You are a religious thumb sucker…and 2 years of that has finally caught up with you. In the form of a big ol’ wart on your right thumb. When we noticed a second wart forming on your ring finger we decided it was time to take action. Unfortunately, the action came in the form of having the doctor freeze it off. đ You were a trooper though and even the doctor commented on what a tough little girl you are. Oh, and at the end of all the freezing you had to get a flu shot. You definitely get your tough genes from mommy. đ
Your allergy/sinus troubles continue to be an issue. It seems like you are only able to do good for short periods of time on your own. In between the good times, we have you on Zyrtec/Claritin and Nasonex. That combinations seems to work well for you — meaning you aren’t coughing up a lung every time you lay down. You are definitely destined for a lifetime of sinus and allergy problems. Sorry punkin’!
Oh, and we are proud to report that you are pretty much offically potty trained! You still wear a diaper at night and during most nap times, but you are 100% trained during your waking hours. You are doing such a good job….and potty training….and everything really. You are absolutely amazing!
You’re Gonna Be a Big Sister!
Posted onWell, the cat is finally out outta the bag! It’s officially public knowledge that you are going to be a big sister!
Everyone is super excited for us….especially the daycare girls! We decided to tell them by sending you to school in your Big Sister shirt – they were all completely caught off guard and very happy! Especially Catrina – she just can’t get enough babies to love in that infant room!
I am guessing your shirt got you a lot of attention that day because the first thing you said both Saturday and Sunday mornings was “Big Sister shirt”. đ
Up the nose it goes
Posted onWell Hailey, you’ve had your first right of passage as a toddler. A right of passage that every toddler most go through…the obligatory item up the nose.
I had just come back from a business trip and mom picked me up from the airport. We headed straight to daycare to pick you up. When we arrived, Ms. Amanda informed us you had decided to put Play-Doh in your nose earlier that day. At just over 2 years old you don’t exactly understand how blow your nose yet. What does that mean? Manual intervention. Ms. Amanda and team had to hold you down and try to extract the Doh. That didn’t go so well. You were not happy about being held down…and two-year-olds are freakishly strong. After several failed attempts you let out a big scream. Somehow along with the scream was a snort and out flew the Play-Doh.
I hope the trauma of this event was enough to teach you not to stick things up your nose…but for some reason I doubt it. Don’t worry, not need to be embarrassed…all toddlers do it. For me it was raisins dislodged with a little help from some black pepper.
Love you,
Daddy
Growing up so fast!
Posted onYou’ve about mastered the potty training thing. You still wear a diaper at night and for some naps but other than that you are enjoying your panty collection. You got over your fear of pooping and took to the toilet about 20 times that day. After that you were good to go! You still get a bit spooked by the auto-flusher so the public restroom experience can be somewhat difficult at times. But there’s no doubt about it – you are doing great!
You had your first dance class of this season on Thursday. You got to wear your cute little tutu dress, tights, and dance shoes. You’d been asking to wear that dress since Saturday when you saw it hanging in the closet.
You are learning to act out for attention and are starting to test your boundaries. But even on a bad day you are still seriously a SUPER great kid with an extremely happy disposition.
Your hair is soooo ridiculously long. On top of that it’s stunning – you somehow ended up with natural highlights. If you can just hang on to that it’ll save you a ton of money when you’re older. đ
You love to sing! Your current favorites are Happy Birthday, ABC’s, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and Rock-a-bye Baby.
Potty Training
Posted onYou are doing it! Potty training is in full effect!
You began wearing panties at school last Monday (8.22.11) and have done really good all week. You are good about going pee in the potty, but for whatever reason, you are scared to go poopy in the potty. Your reaction is pretty severe- you start crying and getting really scared. It’s just gonna take some time for you to get used to that one. Overall you are doing great with the potty training thing. You make mommy & daddy proud!
It’s been a hot summer
Posted onIt’s been way too long since our last blog entry! Things are busy – just bustling along in the Nash household. Mommy & Daddy went to San Diego for a quick weekend trip back in June. Other than that little getaway we’ve both just been staying super busy at work.
You are doing GREAT! Growing like crazy and getting smarter by the second. You love to sing and will often teach daddy and I the new songs you learn at school. You are officially moving out of Mamtaz’s room (your favorite teacher) on Monday. You have been incorporating the potty into your routine but you are far from potty trained. Hopefully we can get that mastered in the next few months.
We are going to sign you up for dance class again – it starts on September 8th. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it even more now that you are older. You are talking in full sentences and know right from wrong. You love to play at the mall and could do that all day long if we’d let you.
Grandma Karen & Grandpa Bruce came down from Iowa for a quick visit last weekend. They brought your cousin Jacob with them – it’s hard to believe he’s 13 already. He was only about 2 (your age now) the first time mommy met him! My how time flies.
You are super active and love to stay on the go. Your favorite things are sliding, swinging, jumping, playing, play dough, kitchen, and stickers. Your all time favorite thing to do is SHOPPING! You say it just about every morning, “go shopping?!”. It makes mommy laugh….and daddy cry. đ Just wait til your old enough to go shopping AND get pedicures! Mommy can’t wait!!!
Speaking of, you were commenting on mommy’s pink toes the other day so we painted yours! And you loved it. You sat still for it and everything. You are definitely a girly-girl.
You did quite a bit of swimming earlier in the summer but it’s just been sooooooo hot lately. The pool is literally hot tub temperature so it’s not even refreshing to get in the water. Not to mention the sidewalk/patio is about 200 degrees on your feet! We were one day shy of breaking a record for most consecutive days of 100+ degree weather so they’ll be talking about the summer of 2011 for years to come.
Well punkin’! All is well – our family is very blessed and we try to remember each and every day just how fortunate we are. We adore you more than we ever thought possible and are thoroughly enjoying watching you learn and grow. You are the light of our lives!
Hailey sings Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and ABC’s
Posted onAre you really two already?
Posted onWow, Hailey Bear. Itâs been over three months since we blogged to you. And, so much has happened. Everyone told us how fast time would fly, but we just didnât understand until it actually happened to us.
You turned two years old a couple of weeks ago and in true Nash style we had a party for you. Everyone had a wonderful time. You are pretty spoiled and have so many wonderful, kind, and generous friends and family, too many to list here. One of your many notable gifts was your very first tricycle from Grandma Karen and Grandpa Bruck. You havenât got it mastered yet, but you definitely get the concept. Youâll be flying around in no time at all. Grandma Lulu and Papa got you your first wagon. So I bet if I put in a good word with Grandpa Nash and Abby they might be the ones to get you your first bicycle.  OhâŚwait. Maybe mommy and daddy should get you your first bicycle and leave the first car to Grandpa and Abby.
Grandma Karen flew down from Iowa for your birthday party. She stayed a couple of extra days to spend with you. You even got to play hooky from school for a couple of days for some quality Grandma time. The last two times grandma came to Texas for one-on-one Hailey time you weâre feeling well. But this time you were in great spirits and the two of you had such a great time together!
Youâre vocabulary is exploding and youâre like a little sponge right now. Mommy and I have to be very careful not to swear, one slip and youâre sure to pick up on it. You havenât mastered full sentences yet, but you definitely know how to put your words together and communicate your thoughts and feelings.
Your favorite things to do right now (in no particular order)
- âWatch-a Barneyâ i.e. Watch DVRâed re-runs of Barney the Purple dinosaur.
- âCheck-a mailâ i.e. go out to the curb with mommy or dad and get the mail out of the mailbox.
- âGo outsideâ it doesnât matter what your doing, as long as you are out site you are happy.
- âBlow bubblesâ you LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to blow bubbles. As this activity combines two of your favorite things, outside and bubbles, you always have a catastrophic melt down when we tell you itâs time to go insideâŚeven if youâve been blowing bubbles for an hour.
- âTinkle starâ and âAbcdefâ You love to sing and be sung to. Your favorite songs are Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and your ABCsâ.  You usually leave out the second twinkle and thereâs usually a missing W when you sing and right now can only make it to the letter F with your ABCs, but itâs only a matter of time.
- âSwingâ Again, as this is an outdoor activity a meltdown is all but assured when we try to tell you weâre done swinging.
You are definitely the girliest of girls. Your favorite color right now is very clearly Purple, with Pink a close second. Youâve got a really good grasp of most or your primary colors.  You donât like being dirty, things that are dirty, and are obsessive about cleaning and wiping your hands. Youâre cautiously curious. Youâre rather reserved and shy, not a head first barrel through anything kind of girl. When you see something you donât quite understand youâre quick to run behind daddy for protection. It takes a little coaxing, but after daddyâs shown you a few times something is safe you become really curious about new things and are so proud when you accomplish new feats.
So many more milestones weâve missed blogging about, weâll try to do better about righting more frequently. But never fear, I think we have between two and three million photos and videos that have captured in image what weâve failed to capture in words.
Love you Monkey,
Daddy
The Princess
Posted onThere are so many fun things happenig lately – it’s hard to remember them all. One funny story – you were having trouble falling asleep for nap at daycare last Friday so Ms. Kim decided to lay down with you to try and calm you to sleep. You kept saying “No nite nite” to her and just would not fall asleep. So she decided to move you into a room where no one was in the hopes that the quiet would help you. It did, you fell asleep mid “No nite nite” sentence They then picked up your cot at each end and moved you back to the room with all the others. Princess type behavior at such a young age?! đ
You are working on potty training. You LOVE the potty chair at home but aren’t so sure about the toilet at school. You are starting to take a little more of a liking to it and even poo pooed in it last week!
You said your first sentence this weekend. We were all 3 in the car and Daddy pointed at the airplane and said “I see an airplane!” And you repeated it! You are growing up so fast….but getting to be SO MUCH fun!
