Growing up so fast!

You’ve about mastered the potty training thing. You still wear a diaper at night and for some naps but other than that you are enjoying your panty collection. You got over your fear of pooping and took to the toilet about 20 times that day. After that you were good to go! You still get a bit spooked by the auto-flusher so the public restroom experience can be somewhat difficult at times. But there’s no doubt about it – you are doing great!

You had your first dance class of this season on Thursday. You got to wear your cute little tutu dress, tights, and dance shoes. You’d been asking to wear that dress since Saturday when you saw it hanging in the closet.

You are learning to act out for attention and are starting to test your boundaries. But even on a bad day you are still seriously a SUPER great kid with an extremely happy disposition.

Your hair is soooo ridiculously long. On top of that it’s stunning – you somehow ended up with natural highlights. If you can just hang on to that it’ll save you a ton of money when you’re older. 🙂

You love to sing! Your current favorites are Happy Birthday, ABC’s, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and Rock-a-bye Baby.

Potty Training

You are doing it! Potty training is in full effect!

You began wearing panties at school last Monday (8.22.11) and have done really good all week. You are good about going pee in the potty, but for whatever reason, you are scared to go poopy in the potty. Your reaction is pretty severe- you start crying and getting really scared. It’s just gonna take some time for you to get used to that one. Overall you are doing great with the potty training thing. You make mommy & daddy proud!

It’s been a hot summer

It’s been way too long since our last blog entry! Things are busy – just bustling along in the Nash household. Mommy & Daddy went to San Diego for a quick weekend trip back in June. Other than that little getaway we’ve both just been staying super busy at work.

You are doing GREAT! Growing like crazy and getting smarter by the second. You love to sing and will often teach daddy and I the new songs you learn at school. You are officially moving out of Mamtaz’s room (your favorite teacher) on Monday. You have been incorporating the potty into your routine but you are far from potty trained. Hopefully we can get that mastered in the next few months.

We are going to sign you up for dance class again – it starts on September 8th. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it even more now that you are older. You are talking in full sentences and know right from wrong. You love to play at the mall and could do that all day long if we’d let you.

Grandma Karen & Grandpa Bruce came down from Iowa for a quick visit last weekend. They brought your cousin Jacob with them – it’s hard to believe he’s 13 already. He was only about 2 (your age now) the first time mommy met him! My how time flies.

You are super active and love to stay on the go. Your favorite things are sliding, swinging, jumping, playing, play dough, kitchen, and stickers. Your all time favorite thing to do is SHOPPING! You say it just about every morning, “go shopping?!”. It makes mommy laugh….and daddy cry. 🙂 Just wait til your old enough to go shopping AND get pedicures! Mommy can’t wait!!!

Speaking of, you were commenting on mommy’s pink toes the other day so we painted yours! And you loved it. You sat still for it and everything. You are definitely a girly-girl.

You did quite a bit of swimming earlier in the summer but it’s just been sooooooo hot lately. The pool is literally hot tub temperature so it’s not even refreshing to get in the water. Not to mention the sidewalk/patio is about 200 degrees on your feet! We were one day shy of breaking a record for most consecutive days of 100+ degree weather so they’ll be talking about the summer of 2011 for years to come.

Well punkin’! All is well – our family is very blessed and we try to remember each and every day just how fortunate we are. We adore you more than we ever thought possible and are thoroughly enjoying watching you learn and grow. You are the light of our lives!

Are you really two already?

Wow, Hailey Bear.  It’s been over three months since we blogged to you.  And, so much has happened.  Everyone told us how fast time would fly, but we just didn’t understand until it actually happened to us.

You turned two years old a couple of weeks ago and in true Nash style we had a party for you.  Everyone had a wonderful time.  You are pretty spoiled and have so many wonderful, kind, and generous friends and family, too many to list here.  One of your many notable gifts was your very first tricycle from Grandma Karen and Grandpa Bruck.  You haven’t got it mastered yet, but you definitely get the concept.  You’ll be flying around in no time at all.  Grandma Lulu and Papa got you your first wagon.  So I bet if I put in a good word with Grandpa Nash and Abby they might be the ones to get you your first bicycle.   Oh…wait.  Maybe mommy and daddy should get you your first bicycle and leave the first car to Grandpa and Abby.

Grandma Karen flew down from Iowa for your birthday party.  She stayed a couple of extra days to spend with you.  You even got to play hooky from school for a couple of days for some quality Grandma time.  The last two times grandma came to Texas for one-on-one Hailey time you we’re feeling well.  But this time you were in great spirits and the two of you had such a great time together!

You’re vocabulary is exploding and you’re like a little sponge right now.  Mommy and I have to be very careful not to swear, one slip and you’re sure to pick up on it.  You haven’t mastered full sentences yet, but you definitely know how to put your words together and communicate your thoughts and feelings.

Your favorite things to do right now (in no particular order)

  • “Watch-a Barney” i.e. Watch DVR’ed re-runs of Barney the Purple dinosaur.
  • “Check-a mail” i.e. go out to the curb with mommy or dad and get the mail out of the mailbox.
  • “Go outside”  it doesn’t matter what your doing, as long as you are out site you are happy.
  • “Blow bubbles” you LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to blow bubbles.  As this activity combines two of your favorite things, outside and bubbles, you always have a catastrophic melt down when we tell you it’s time to go inside…even if you’ve been blowing bubbles for an hour.
  • “Tinkle star” and “Abcdef”  You love to sing and be sung to.  Your favorite songs are Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and your ABCs’.   You usually leave out the second twinkle and there’s usually a missing W when you sing and right now can only make it to the letter F with your ABCs, but it’s only a matter of time.
  • “Swing” Again, as this is an outdoor activity a meltdown is all but assured when we try to tell you we’re done swinging.

You are definitely the girliest of girls.  Your favorite color right now is very clearly Purple, with Pink a close second.  You’ve got a really good grasp of most or your primary colors.   You don’t like being dirty, things that are dirty, and are obsessive about cleaning and wiping your hands.  You’re cautiously curious.  You’re rather reserved and shy, not a head first barrel through anything kind of girl.  When you see something you don’t quite understand you’re quick to run behind daddy for protection.  It takes a little coaxing, but after daddy’s shown you a few times something is safe you become really curious about new things and are so proud when you accomplish new feats.

So many more milestones we’ve missed blogging about, we’ll try to do better about righting more frequently.  But never fear, I think we have between two and three million photos and videos that have captured in image what we’ve failed to capture in words.

Love you Monkey,
Daddy

The Princess

There are so many fun things happenig lately – it’s hard to remember them all. One funny story – you were having trouble falling asleep for nap at daycare last Friday so Ms. Kim decided to lay down with you to try and calm you to sleep. You kept saying “No nite nite” to her and just would not fall asleep. So she decided to move you into a room where no one was in the hopes that the quiet would help you. It did, you fell asleep mid “No nite nite” sentence They then picked up your cot at each end and moved you back to the room with all the others. Princess type behavior at such a young age?! 🙂

You are working on potty training. You LOVE the potty chair at home but aren’t so sure about the toilet at school. You are starting to take a little more of a liking to it and even poo pooed in it last week!

You said your first sentence this weekend. We were all 3 in the car and Daddy pointed at the airplane and said “I see an airplane!” And you repeated it! You are growing up so fast….but getting to be SO MUCH fun!

Our Christmas Tradition

Posted on

Tis the season Sweet Pea! Grandma Karen and Grandpa Bruce got to town today! We realized that we still had not taken you to see Santa yet so we decided to do that with them. We dressed you up in your pretty Christmas dress and tights, headed over to Grapevine Mills mall, and stood in line about 15 minutes to see Santa. Though you were very interested in Santa from afar, you wanted NOTHING to do with him when it came time for you to sit on his lap. Though it was not your best picture, we had to buy it cause your pouty crying face was just too cute to resist.

We thought it would be a ton of fun to make a Build-a-Bear each year. So we began our family tradition today! After much thought and a lot of touching and hugging different animals, we decided on the Hello Kitty. We got her a voice box and took her over to the stuffing machine. That machine was loud so mommy pushed the foot pedal for you. Once the kitty was stuff you got to put her heart in. You really liked that part so you decided to give her another one. 🙂 There is your trivia fact – your Hello Kitty has 2 hearts!

Afterwards we ate dinner at Carrabba’s and then we drove to see Christmas lights. You LOVED the lights and were such a good girl the entire day and into the night. It’s absolutely amazing how fast you are learning and how quickly you are growing up!

Potty Time!

It’s been a monumental day! First, your cousin Emerson Ameilia made her way into the world today….5 weeks early! We’ll have 3 girls (you, Jordan, and Emerson) right around the same age at all of our future family gatherings. I see lots of trouble to be had…poor Colton doesn’t stand a chance! 🙂

You also achieved a HUGE milestone today. You poo poo-ed in the potty! We got you a cute pink potty a few weeks back because you had been showing an interest in the toilet and you have been saying “poo poo” everytime you go poop in your diaper. We had you sit on the toilet a couple of times in the past, but we never actually got anything to happen….even though you very much enjoy sitting on the potty.

Well, tonight you came over to me saying “poo poo” and basically drug me into the bathroom and pointed at your potty. We pulled it out, took off your diaper, and sat you on the potty. Then there it was! A poo poo in the potty! What a big girl you are! You stood up and pointed at it and said ‘uh oh’ about 10 times. It was pretty cute! It’s just so amazing how fast you are growing up!

You Are Getting to be So Much FUN!

Posted on

It’s been too long since we last blogged so here are a few things that have happpend the past month or so…

Your first goose egg happened at the end of October. You fell off the park bench outside at daycare and got a pretty good knock on the back of your head. Had mommy all shades of worried! Luckily the worst that came of it was a little headache and senstivity for a day or so.

In early Novmeber, you spent 3 nights in a row at Grandma Abby’s and Grandpa Terry’s house. The longest time you’ve ever been away from home. You had a BLAST and and even got to go to the park with your cousin Colton! It was hard for mommy & daddy to be away from you that long but we took advantage of the free time by having a date night – dinner and a movie! We had fun but we were sure glad to get you back home!

We also had a couple of fun family days! The first one was at the Blue Angels air show. You had a lot of fun running around and seeing all of the airplanes. Miraculously, you managed to fall asleep and take a pretty good nap – even with the constant sound of fighter jets flying overhead. Very impressive!

Our other fun family day was at the Fort Worth Zoo. You got to see all the fun animals and even got to hear the Lions roar! You weren’t a huge fan of the bird cage where we got to buy food on a stick and walk into a room with about 10,000 birds…it was a little overwhelming!

You are maturing so much – even in just the past couple of weeks! Your commuincation skills are supurb – even though it’s a little difficult to understand exactly what you are “saying”, you have NO trouble communicating. Your can officially utilize the word “no” in cotext and the number of words you say and understand is growing by leaps and bounds and now includes: bath, shower, shoe, car, birdie, clock, please, thank you, more, banana, airplane, puppy, kitty cat, bite, cheese, cracker, cookie, all gone, and shoes. You will say the sounds of some animals: puppy (woof, woof), kitty cat (meow), owl (who, who), & cow (moo).

You’ve learned to say hi and bye in context and you recently started hugging and kissing. It’s SOOOOO sweet! Your hair is ridiculously long and pretty – it has so much body, just a bit of curl, and beautiful natural highlights.

You passed your 18 month check up with flying colors. You weigh about 28 pounds and are almost 33 inches long – both in the 90 to 95th percentile. Your head circumference is almost 20 cm – still off the charts. 🙂

You love to sing and dance. Your current favorites are “Wheels on the Bus”, “Old MacDonald”, and “ABC’s”, although you LOVE all songs and singing. You are even able to say/hum the first few tunes of A, B, C, D…luckily, I think you got my sense of tone and musical ability! Even daddy is happy for that!

Oh, your dad and are have booked a vacation – just the two of us! It’ll be our first vacation together (besides the Ranch) since February 2007! We are going on a cruise (our favorite!) in late February. We’ll be gone for a week. We leave out of Galveston and go to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, & Jamaica – we are both SUPER excited!

Anyway, we are just cherishing every moment of this stage in your life. You are soooooo much FUN and we love you to pieces!
